It is now extended up to a year from date of retirement In a relief to pensioners, the Centre on Wednesday extended payment of provisional pension up to one year from the date of retirement in view of the pandemic situation.
A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, officers of the Department of Pension and DARPG. The Minister said that provisional family pension was also liberalised.
Provisions in the bill include expanding automatic enrollment in 401(k) plans, raising the age for when people are required to take distributions from retirement accounts from 72 to 75 and allowing employers to make matching contributions to retirement plans when their employees make payments on their student loans.
Both Democrats and Republicans on the committee have long had an interest in retirement issues, and lawmakers in both parties spoke favorably about the bill.
“I’m happy that we were able to work together on a bipartisan basis to develop this important legislation,” Neal said. “Our efforts have resulted in an excellent product that will help Americans plan for their golden years.”

A decision by Belfast City Council to outsource the management of Malone House has been described by elected representatives as “dressed up privatisation”.
At this week’s full council meeting, the council voted to change the working arrangement of the South Belfast Georgian mansion so that “a suitably experienced and dynamic individual or business is identified to operate it”.
But Sinn Féin Councillor Ronan McLaughlin said: “This whole notion of giving Malone House to a charity or a social enterprise is a red herring – it’s a way of trying to sell it. We shouldn’t be giving out our assets, whether it is to the private sector or the third sector in order for them to make profits. It is fundamentally wrong for us to go down that route. I would see this as dressed up privatisation.”

LONDON: Gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools are reopening in Wales as the further easing of the Covid-19 restrictions.
